What is the eligibility to be a member of JMA?
Applicants must be over 18 years of age and working as media professionals or photojournalists in visual, print, or digital media. All applications are subject to approval by the Executive Committee. Please note that YouTubers and Cartoonists are not eligible for membership.
How much is the registration fee and monthly surcharge?
The admission fee is Rs. 1,000. Additionally, there is a monthly surcharge of Rs. 25. Members can choose to pay their monthly dues in advance with the committee's approval.
What can lead to the cancellation of membership?
- Submitting a written resignation approved by the Committee.
- Acting against the terms, interests, or policies of the association.
- Failure to pay the monthly surcharge for more than three months.
- In the unfortunate event of the member's death.
Meetings & Voting
Who has the right to vote in the association?
- Founding & A Class Members: Right to vote in National, State, and District Committees.
- B Class Members: Right to vote in State and District Committees.
- C Class Members: No voting rights in any committee.
How often are General Meetings held?
A General Meeting must be held at least once every year. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) specifically must be conducted before December 31st of each calendar year.
What is the required quorum for a General Meeting?
The quorum for a general meeting is two-thirds of the total number of registered members.
Powers & Administration
What are the main duties of the National President?
The President has general oversight of the administration. All official documents and bank accounts are held in the President's name. The President presides over all meetings and has the power to take disciplinary action against those acting against the association's interests.
How is the National Executive Committee elected?
Founding members and A Class members elect the National Executive Committee during the General Meeting. The committee consists of at least 7 members and serves a term of three years.
Who handles disputes within or against the association?
All legal cases or disputes involving the association are handled by the President on behalf of the organization.
