Our Story & Purpose

The Journalist & Media Association (JMA) is a national body created to give a single, strong voice to media professionals across India. Our core duty is to protect the basic rights and freedom of journalists so they can do their work for the public without any pressure.

Under the leadership of National President Vysakh Suresh, JMA works through its National Head Office in New Delhi and its Registered Office in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. We represent a large group of members from traditional print and broadcast to modern digital news portals.

The JMAGC (Regulatory Body)

The Journalist and Media Association Grievance Council (JMAGC) is a registered Self-Regulatory Body (SRB) for publishers of news and current affairs content.

It is registered under Rule 12 of the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The Government of India established this framework to regulate digital media and online news portals.

Level II Grievance Redressal

The JMAGC serves as Level II in the three-tier grievance system. Our main role is to ensure digital news portals follow the Code of Ethics and to resolve complaints that are not settled at Level I by the publisher.

Our Mission

To support journalists by protecting their professional freedom and building a strong national network for their safety and dignity.

Our Vision

To be India's most respected media union, ensuring that honest journalism remains the strong foundation of our democracy.
